Greenhouses

Foliage and Flowering Houseplants:  With the addition of our new glass greenhouse, attached to the front of the garden center, Evergreen now grows an assortment of interior flowering and foliage plants: from cactus and orchids to ferns, ficus and philodendrons with an array of both unusual and common houseplants.  These wonderful ‘tropicals’ along with dish gardens, potted flowering plants and many other decorative combinations can extend the gardening season, adding color and greenery to your home during the sometimes long winter months. 

Annual Flowers:  Our production of annual flowers begins with the growing of pansies and African daisies in late January.  These early season flowers are frost tolerant and are ready for sale in early April.  Our summer annuals are started in February and are ready for Mother’s Day.  Evergreen is noted for its beautiful assortment of potted annual flowers, hanging baskets and mixed-combination planters.  The Proven Winner varieties have dominated much of our growing and sales due to their select breeding which results in beautiful foliage and an abundance of colorful flowers,  outstanding performance all summer long, and a unique selection eye-catching, easy top grow annuals.

Perennial Flowers:  Our perennial greenhouse is open in mid March  as we begin the process of potting bare-root perennial plants in both 1 and 2 gallon containers.  Our selection of perennial flowers increases every year as we grow many of the newer hybrid varieties.  Each year new hybrids of many old favorites are offered with larger and more prolific flowers, longer flowering time, different color flowers, colorful new foliage,  or with a shorter or more compact growth habit. We now have over 500 varieties of perennial, wildflowers and ferns available.  Are sales area is set up alphabetically for both sun and shade tolerant perennials.

Fall Mums:  We grow over 25 varieties of fall mums in a variety of container sizes and types including bushel baskets, 8 inch fiber biodegradable pots, and an assortment of pot sizes ideal for window boxes, planters or alone as a specimen on your front step.  In the fall we also have ornamental cabbage and kale, decorative grasses, ornamental peppers, bales of hay, corn stalks and pumpkins.

Poinsettias:  We have been growing all of our own poinsettias since 1994.  Our growing greenhouses become filled with poinsettia cuttings in early August each year.  Ten varieties of poinsettias are grown in several size pots and are bursting with lush foliage and beautiful color in time for the holiday season.  Varieties include the increasingly popular burgundy, monet, marble, pink, white and traditional red.
